LITTLE RIVER — Little River’s basketball teams struggled on the offensive end on Friday to lose games to Wakefield.
In the girls’ game, Little River never had a double-digit quarter in losing a 41-29 decision. It was 20-12 at the half and while the Redskins’ defense played well, they couldn’t make enough shots.
Melanie Renken’s 10 points topped Little River.
• WAKEFIELD BOYS 36, LITTLE RIVER 26 — Little River’s two-point first quarter set its tone and the Redskins had only 16 through three quarters.
The defensive effort for Little River was strong, as Wakefield scored more than 11 points in a quarter only once.
Clay Zeller was most of the Little River offense by scoring 16 points. He was 6 of 11 from the field, but the rest of the team could manage only 4 of 22.
