It was the eighth game for the Hesston boys on Friday.
For the seventh time, there was a different leading scorer.
Levi Caffrey took the honors this time as his 12 points helped the Swathers to a gutty 50-41 victory over upset-minded Halstead in a renewal of their rivalry.
Caffrey was the only Swather in double figures. Hesston coach Greg Raleigh said he liked how balanced his team is as you never know on a given night who is going to step up.
• HESSTON GIRLS 40, HALSTEAD 23 — It was a tremendous defensive effort for the Swathers, who have a big rematch coming up on Tuesday with Kingman.
Halstead couldn’t even score a single point against Hesston in the first quarter and had only seven points for the half. Halstead scored 11 of its 23 points in the final quarter.
Eight Swathers scored, led by Kailey Jo Ince and Cami Richardson with 12 points apiece.
