CONWAY -- U.S. Highway 56 remains closed near the Williams Energy Services storage facility by Conway due to a butane leak that happened Monday afternoon.

Williams reported the leak to McPherson County emergency responders just around 11:30 am Monday after a section of pipe associated with an underground storage cavern began to vent an unknown amount of butane.

The venting was shut down by noon, but the area remains closed off to the public until an investigation by Williams Energy is complete. McPherson County Dispatch says that may be as soon as 7 am, but could possibly throughout the morning.

No one was injured in the incident.
