SALINA — McPherson’s seventh-grade girls stormed to a pair of routs of Salina South on Monday.

The A-team pitched a 6-0 first-quarter shutout and exploded in the second quarter to lead 22-4. By the time it was over, the Bullpups had improved to 8-0 with a 41-6 victory.

Grace Pyle led MMS with 13 points and Kassidy Beam supplied 10.

The B-team raced to a 14-2 first-quarter lead and was up 21-5 at the half. Katie Berg’s 13 points led the way, Shelby Yowell scored 11 and Alexa Bell furnished 10 as MMS completed the 37-13 win to move to 8-0.

“I thought the B-team came out ready to play and had good defense throughout the game,” MMS coach Jacque Gehrt said. “The A-team started a little slow tonight and we missed a ton of easy shots, but once we settled down we were able to play more as a team. Overall, we had two more good performances tonight.”

MMS is home Thursday entertain Newton.
