It was two more no-stress basketball victories for McPherson High’s seventh-grade girls here Thursday.

The Bullpup A-team used an 11-1 third-quarter advantage to key a 33-15 success against Newton. Grace Pyle’s nine points were tops.

The B-team, behind eight points by Alexa Bell, also had it easy with a 31-16 triumph.

Both MMS teams are now 9-0.

“Another slow start for the A-team, but we brought more defensive intensity in the second half and had better ball movement against their zone as well,” MMS coach Jacque Gehrt said. “The B-team had good effort all game and played well as a team. All the girls are continuing to improve.”

MMS hosts Derby on Thursday.

MMS A (33) — Pyle 9, Beam 7, Godwin 5, Kynaston 4, Diggs 4, Alexander 4.

MMS B (31) —  Bell 8, Berg 7, Yowell 4, Allen 4, Myers 4, Berlanga 3, Casebeer 1.
