MARION — Had the Inman boys gotten off to a better start, they could have been smelling an upset of Marion on Friday.
The Teutons scored only four first-quarter points and 21 for the half, but put up 41 in the second half to lose to the Warriors, 70-62.
Newcomer Tyler Zinn, who earned Class 6A honors at Olathe South last year before transferring to Marion to begin play at semester, scored 21 points.
But game honors went to Inman freshman Payton Froese, who poured in 23. Lucas Barlow added 14 as the Teutons have played light-years better since Christmas.
Marion outscored Inman by just two points in the fourth quarter, which was a wild, up-and-down period. The Warriors scored 29 points in the quarter, the Teutons 27.
A slow start also did in the Inman girls, who were down 11-0 after the first period. Once they came alive they wound up losing 45-27.
It was 22-7 at the half.
Baylie Jo Ediger topped the Teutons with eight points.
