After being open less than a year, the Hillsboro Walmart Neighborhood Market will be shuttering it's doors effective January 28.
The store made the announcement on its Facebook page just before noon Friday with no further explanations. The Associated Press is reporting that the closing is part of an international move that will see 269 total stores close in the U.S. and Brazil.
Nine total stores in Kansas will be closing. In addition to Hillsboro's, stores in Ellsworth, Rose Hill, Columbus, Burlington, Clearwater and three in Wichita will be shut down.
Most of the 154 U.S. closings will be smaller stores called Walmart Express, which were launched as a test program in 2011.
