Emler named chair of KCC

Former 35th District Senator Jay Emler was named as the chairman of the Kansas Corporation Commission on Thursday.

Emler was first appointed to the commission in January of 2014 by Governor Sam Brownback, and confirmed that same month by the state senate. He was then confirmed for a four-year term last May.

Emler, a Bethany College graduate, served as the 35thDistrict senator for 13 years, and was elected Senate Majority Leader.

The Kansas Corporation Commission is an independent regulatory agency with the authority to render judgment and decisions on regulated utilities.
