Central Christian College’s men put their No. 9 NCCAA national basketball ranking on the line tonight in the return match with Ozark Christian College.
The 7 p.m. game in Joplin, Mo., will be led in by the 5 p.m. women’s game.
The nationally ranked Tigers and Ozark Christian met last month at Alexander Arena with Central rolling to an easy 97-50 victory, sparked by 22 points by Michael Gholston, along with a 19 and 11 double-double by Alonzo Stafford.
Complacency by the Tigers would appear to be all that’s standing between them and their 13th victory, although they are coming off only their third loss of the season on Tuesday to Southwestern Christian.
The Tigers will be road weary by the end of the week. After tonight, they head to New Mexico this weekend to play Northern New Mexico College and Johnson and Wales. They are not home again until Jan. 26 when they host Barclay College.
The Lady Tigers, coming off a 100-90 loss on Friday to Arlington Baptist, will be attempting to improve to 6-12 against an Ozarks team they defeated 81-71 last month at Alexander Arena. Heather Crittenden poured in 22 points and yanked down 13 rebounds to lead CCC, while Libby Brooks knocked down five 3-pointers on her way to 19 points.
Central did not have either MacKenzie Woods or Krystina Stackhouse playing at the time as they were involved with soccer.
Central’s women, who are wrapping up a stretch of six straight road games, have four straight home games coming up after tonight.
