Icy conditions plaguing central, southern Kansas

Very slick conditions right now, especially in the southern half of McPherson County where Kansas Highway Patrol troopers and other emergency responders are multiple traffic accidents on Interstate Highway 135.

Those accidents include a non-injury rollover near milepost 55 and a jack-knifed semi on the northbound lanes near exit 46 at Moundridge.

Cancellations include the Special Olympics canceling cheerleading and basketball tonight and the McPherson Area Solid Waste Utility suspending some rural routes today due to the weather. The utility announced on it's Twitter account that they plan to either come back to those missed pick-ups later this week or take extra trash next week.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until 9 pm tonight for McPherson, Marion, Reno, and Harvey counties, among others. The National Weather Service in Wichita is predicting areas of light, freezing drizzle and possible snow flurries to impact much of central Kansas through the evening hours. Ice accumulation is expected to be less than a tenth of an inch.
