BURRTON — Little River’s boys outscored Goessel 3-1 in overtime Tuesday to outlast the Bluebirds 47-45 in the first round of the Burrton Invitational.
Little River now plays area rival Inman at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals.
The Redskins were up as many as eight points in the first half, but Goessel came back strong and eventually forced the extra session.
Goessel had no answer for the 1-2 punch of Clay Zeller and Damien Martinez, who scored 20 and 18 points, respectively. Zeller also had six rebounds and six steals.
Zach Wiens was terrific in defeat with 27 points, making 13 of 15 shots.
Little River is moving ever closer to the .500 mark as it’s now 4-6.
