Hesston cagers sweep tourney games

HILLSBORO — Hesston’s basketball teams got off to a good start in the Hillsboro Trojan Classic on Tuesday.

The Hesston boys held Clay Center to three third-quarter points to spark a 47-37 victory. Zach Vogts’ 16 points led the Swathers, with Scott Duerksen adding 12.

The Hesston girls scored a 47-23 victory over Sunrise Christian Academy behind a 25-point outburst by Cami Richardson. The Swather girls also had a three-point defensive quarter, allowing just a three-point fourth period.

Hesston’s boys play Bennington at 4:30 p.m. Friday. The Swather girls play Hillsboro at 6 p.m. Friday.
