McPherson College’s tennis teams are picked to sweep the KCAC titles, according to the preseason polls announced today.

The Bulldog women, in fact, were picked unanimously and totaled 64 points compared to 50 for runner-up Ottawa. Both Mac teams made it to nationals last year.

“It is good to see us get this kind of ranking given the KCAC has gotten stronger over the past several years for women's tennis,” Mac coach Justin Stuckey said. "I think that we have a very determined group and we will be in great shape to complete our goals this year."

The men’s vote was much closer, with Mac outlasting longtime kingpin Bethany by a point, 61-60. The Bulldogs received five of the nine first-place votes and the Swedes had the other four. Coaches could not vote for their own team.

“We are very appreciative of the ranking for the team," Stuckey said. "We have a lot of work ahead of us, but we are up for the task. I am very confident the guys are very hungry to achieve all the goals we have this season and help take the men's program to the next level."
