It was playing time for everybody Thursday night as it was a feel-good game for the Central Christian College women’s basketball team.
It was a rollicking good time for the Lady Tigers, who routed Union College 93-36 to improve to 7-12.
Central set the tone early by jumping out to a 24-6 first-quarter lead and was up 54-17 at the half. Fourteen CCC players marked in the scorebook.
“We've been in a very good rhythm offensively for the past couple of weeks and tonight was no exception," CCC coach Chris Honeck said. "I'm a little concerned, though, that our defensive intensity hasn't been as consistent as it should be. We gave up too many strong-handed drives and far too many offensive rebounds tonight. I do understand that it's difficult to maintain intensity in a lopsided game, but we need to find that discipline to continue to do things the way they're supposed to be done for 40 minutes. When we reach that point, we're going to be a very dangerous team."
Ashlyn Garza stayed hot from 3-point by knocking down four as part of her team-high 19 points. Heather Crittenden scored 14 and Caitlyn Campa added 13. Kelsey Austin pulled down 10 rebounds in just 12 minutes of play.
Central is back home Saturday for a 3 p.m. game against nationally ranked (No. 8) Dallas Christian College.
