HILLSBORO — There will be a definite Hesston flavor tonight in the championship games of the Trojan Classic.

Both Hesston teams advanced to tonight’s championship round with victories on Friday.

The Swather girls were a 56-37 winner over the host Trojans behind the 1-2 punch of Cami Richardson (23 points) and Kailey Jo Ince (15).

Hesston broke open a close game with a 24-9 edge in the third quarter. The Swathers play Clay Center for the championship.

The Hesston boys have had little competition so far, including Friday’s 62-35 rout of Bennington. The Swathers blazed to a 23-7 first-quarter lead and never looked back.

Hesston, which plays a very strong Holcomb tonight for the title, was led by Zach Vogt with 18 points, but he had plenty of help as Scott Duerksen (15), Jon Weber (10) and Cole McCreary (10) also hit for double figures.
