A 2016 Presidential Caucus will be hosted by the McPherson County Republican Party coming up in March, though the deadline to register to vote is coming up next week.

The caucus will run from 10 am until 2 pm at Central Christian College's Greer Auditorium, 1200 South Main Street in McPherson on March 5. Check-in and registration is at 9 am. Currently, 11 presidential candidates have filed to participate in the state's caucus, including Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, the three widely considered to be the national front runners for the nomination.

The caucus is open to all Kansas Republican Party voters. To register to vote, you must do so with the McPherson County Clerk's office on or before Feb. 4, which is a week from this coming Thursday.

This will be the first Kansas caucus since the state legislature voted to permanently end the presidential primary elections in the 2015 session.

The Kansas Democratic Party will also hold their caucus March 5.
