MHS bowlers split with Circle

EL DORADO — McPherson High’s girls bowling team pulled away from Circle during Monday’s dual match.

The Bullpups had a 1,929 total while the T-Birds managed just 1,683.

Alexis Kieffer led the way with a 519, which included a 209 game.

Other totals were Bailey Holton (477), Ashley LaSalle (443), Anna Young (439), Masayn Groote (402) and Brooke Miller (337).

The Bullpup boys were edged by just seven pins, 2,206-2,199.

Clayton Ouellette was a bright spot with a 608, which included games of 233 and 215.

Other MHS scores were Carl Frazier (566), Jeff Reed (555), Talin Goebel (456), Mathew Stiggins (451) and KC Becker (426).

“We have been working on making spares and the kids either made them or missed them as a team,” MHS coach Herb Halinski said of the day. “It was great at times, but then they seemed to lose focus on some and just missed them. It was a long time between meets and it showed. With the Great Plains Classic coming up later in the week they will regain their focus.”

The MHS JV boys triumphed, 1,988-1,842.

Scores were Austin Stiggins (499), Kolton Lare (488), Sean Birzer (477), Devin Hartley (461), Ben Houston (434) and Trey Hett (349).

The girls lost, 1,625-1,263.

Kaylnn Chick had a good day with a 418. Other scores were Amanda Miller (353), Kimiko Bullis (241), Caitlyn Fortner (230) and Randie Baker (204).

The Bullpups host El Dorado on Thursday at Starlite Lanes.
