A threatening note found in a McPherson High School restroom Tuesday is prompting an increased police presence in USD 418 schools today, though both the district and the McPherson Police Department assure you there are no credible threats at this time.
Some parents of MHS students were notified by text around 7 pm that an anonymous note was found in a boy's restroom Tuesday at MHS making a threat towards unnamed students. According to posts on both the district and police department Facebook pages, a cooperative investigation led to the MPD determining that there was no credible threat to MHS and the note did not threaten specific students.
McPherson Police Chief Rob McClarty encouraged all students and parents to be aware and vigilant in a statement. He also said there will be increased patrols both at area schools and in the city.
USD 418 superintendent Mark Crawford said in a statement on the district's Facebook page that he believes it is safe to have school today and they are taking all the necessary precautions.
