HUTCHINSON — Smoky Valley’s boys have a winning streak.
The Vikings, who had just one victory on the season until last week, made it three wins in a row on Tuesday by edging Trinity Catholic, 54-53.
Trinity, which lost to Smoky last Friday in the Sterling Invitational, jumped out to a 20-10 first-quarter lead, but the Vikings came right back by outscoring the Celtics 20-9 in the second period. From there, it was a slugfest until Nick Reinert’s basket with 15 seconds left in the game gave Smoky Valley the victory.
Reinert, who missed a recent game with illness, looked well to the Celtics by burning them for 20 points. Alec Schneider chipped in with 15.
• SMOKY VALLEY GIRLS 27, TRINITY 21 — In a low-scoring game, the Vikings held Trinity to just four first-half points and scored just enough on their end to come away with the victory.
Bailey Bolden topped the Vikings with 10 points.
