Eagles advance to Sedgwick semifinals

SEDGWICK — Canton-Galva’s girls advanced to the semifinals of the Sedgwick Invitational by scoring a 40-30 victory over Clearwater on Tuesday in the first round.

The Eagles’ defense was superb, holding Clearwater to just a point in the second quarter and seven for the first half.

Kelli Nightingale and Cassidy Enns propelled the Eagles with 14 points apiece. Nightingale scored 12 of her points in the second half, eight in the fourth quarter. The difference in the game was at the foul line where C-G made 17 of 26.

The Eagles are matched against Conway Springs at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
