There’s nothing like the friendly confines of Starlite Lanes to get the McPherson High boys bowling team back on track.
Coming off a rare loss, the Bullpups rode a strong day by Carl Frazier to a 2,554-2,151 victory over El Dorado on Thursday.
Frazier had three huge games of 243, 236 and 236 for a 715 series.
Clayton Ouellette and Jeff Reed provided nice complements. Ouellette’s 616 series was sparked by a robust 260 game, while Reed had games of 226 and 221 to spearhead his 613 series.
Other totals were KC Becker (561), Mathew Stiggins (516) and Talin Goebel (457). Becker had a 209 high game and Stiggins a 208.
It also was a good day for the JV boys, who rolled to a 1,876-1,322 triumph. Kolton Lare, sparked by a 207 game, had a 497 and he was matched by Ben Houston. Other scores were Austin Stiggins (475), Mack Bruce (398), Mathew Gesaman (332) and Ryan Ronsee (287).
The home lanes also helped the MHS girls, though they received a strong push before prevailing 2,055-2,003.
Alexis Kieffer had a splendid day, as games of 208 and 210 highlighted her team-high 574 performance. Other scores were Bailey Holton (506), Ashley LaSalle (474), Maysan Groote (455) Anna Young (452) and Brooke Miller (366).
The JV girls went down to defeat, 1,498-1,189. The Bullpups’ four-girl contingent was led by Kaylnn Chick with 375. Other scores were Randie Baker (295), Caitlyn Fortner (273) and Kimiko Bullis (246).
“Today was a much better day for the kids,” MHS coach Herb Halinski said. “They were able to stay focused and the scores indicated it. They made spares today and I am very proud of each and every one of them. Alexis Kieffer was rock-solid all day. Maysan Groote bowled the best she ever has. Carl Frazier led the boys. He had a clean set with no open frames and performed with great passion today.”
The Bullpups compete Friday and Saturday in the Great Plains Invitational in Wichita.
