For the second game in a row in the Mid America Classic on Thursday, it was all about defense.

This time it was No. 2 seed Manhattan that was in lockdown mode as it shackled Andale 44-30 to advance to Friday’s semifinals where it will play Olathe East in the 6 p.m. third game.

Manhattan was never seriously threatened after a 16-7 second quarter pushed the halftime lead to 28-18. Andale just couldn’t find the basket after the break as Manhattan improved to 9-2.

Manhattan had nice balance as no player scored in double figures. Tarrah Bammes led the way with nine.

Tyler Winter’s nine points led Andale, which plays Hays in the first game on Friday. Jill Bergkamp had a nice game off the glass with 12 rebounds.
