McPherson’s seventh-grade girls continued their amazing defensive ways here Thursday.

MMS blanked Valley Center 15-0 in the first quarter and wound up with a stifling 37-8 victory. Grace Pyle led the way with 14 points.

“The A-team had some good defensive and offensive moments, but overall we were sloppy and didn't play our best game,” MMS coach Jacque Gehrt said. “We will have to step up and do a better job of taking care of the ball to get past Maize on Monday.”

The B-team was even more dominating, blanking the visitors 30-0. Alexa Bell had 12 points to lead the way.

“The B-team pitched another shutout and was very aggressive on defense,” Gehrt said.

Both teams are now 12-0. Monday’s games are at Maize.

MMS A (37) — Pyle 14, Godwin 8, Kynaston 5, Diggs 4, Alexander 4, Beam 2.

MMS B (30) — Bell 12, Yowell 6, Myers 4, Allen 3, Berg 2, Aguilar 2, Casebeer 1.
