CLAY CENTER — Smoky Valley’s boys have it rolling after a slow start to their season.

The Vikings made it four straight wins on Friday, all coming on the road, with a 59-55 victory over Clay Center.

Nick Reinert made 8 of 13 floor shots and 6 of 7 free throws to finish with 23 points. Brett Heitschmidt had a nice game with 13 as Viking coach Doug Schneider said they are getting other players to step up to augment the high-scoring Reinert.

The game was tight all the way, as the Vikes led by three going into the fourth quarter.

• CLAY CENTER GIRLS 41, SMOKY VALLEY 9 — Smoky Valley coach John Bellah said he should have checked for a lid on the basket.

The Vikings simply couldn’t get a shot to go down, scoring four points in the first half and five in the second. Kate Deterding led the way with four points.
