WICHITA — McPherson High’s Carl Frazier took fourth place in the Great Plains Bowling Invitational that was contested Friday and Saturday.

Frazier had a tremendous three-game set with scores of 243-236-212 for a 691.

Alexis Kieffer led the girls with 520, followed closely by Anna Young, who had a 202 game to highlight her 514 series.

Neither MHS team made the final cut, but coach Herb Halinski said it was a great experience.

“The meet was very challenging for the kids,” Halinski said. “The tournament put down a lane condition that is used in college tournaments, which made the kids really think and have to make good shots. The older kids who have bowled a lot of Junior Gold tournaments are the ones who really bowled well in the tournament. I am really proud of all of the kids as they never gave up or got down on themselves. Anna Young bowled her best ever. She was really excited.”

The Bullpups head to Salina on Tuesday.
