McPherson City Commissioners discussed some add-ons to the planned reconstruction of Maple Street during both the regular meeting and a study session after on Monday.
The study session discussion focused on the ADA ramps at Maple and Marlin. Public Works Director Jeff Woodward said the total add-on to the project for APAC-Shears would be $5,249.
“Those stand-up curbs are catching snow plows all the time,” Woodward said. “With our Maple Street Project coming, we'd like to replace those.”
The commission gave Woodward the go-ahead to pursue that change order to the project and bring it to a coming meeting for formal approval.
The other item involves the repair of the parking lot at Ash and Marlin, just to the north of the new Emprise Bank location, as discussed by Woodward and the commission last week. Woodward said APAC can do mill, patch and overlay work for an estimated $20,000.
“This work would have to be done in conjunction with the Maple Street Project,” Woodward said. “Adding this work by change order would to the Maple Street Project will reduce, if not eliminate, any mobilization costs.”
The Maple reconstruction project will encompass an area stretching from Elizabeth north across Kansas up to the rail road tracks by the parking lot behind Graber's Ace Hardware.
Woodward says work won't begin on the project until after All School's Day in May.
