The United Way of McPherson County came in just short of their 2015 campaign goal, as the final numbers were announced Monday afternoon.

The campaign officially ended January 31 and executive director Anne Kirchner said in a press release that they raised $203,185.

“It was a challenging year, and we were fortunate to reach 90 percent of our $225,000 goal,” Kirchner said.

All of the funds raised will go to support McPherson County non-profit agencies. Funding decisions will be based off a vetting process through the 25 United Way board members and community volunteers.

“The review committee searches for well-managed programs dedicated to addressing specific community needs,” Kirchner said. “The task is challenging as there are many needs but limited funds.” Fourteen agencies representing 18 programs have applied for 2016 funding.

Kirchner says 14 agencies representing 18 programs have applied for 2016 funding.
