SALINA — McPherson High’s JV boys bowling team finished in the middle of the five-team pack in a meet Tuesday that included Augusta and three Salina schools — Central, South and Sacred Heart.
MHS had a 1,983, finishing behind Central (2,237) and South (2,038). Sacred Heart (1,697) and Augusta (1,498) rounded it out.
Ben Houston led MHS with a 553, with a high of 194. Other scores were Kolton Lare (483), Tyler Horner (456), Devin Hartley (455), Michael Polasek (423) and Austin Stiggins (387).
The girls, with only four bowlers, were fourth with 1,217. Augusta (1,673), South (1,596) and Central (1,345) finished ahead of MHS and Sacred Heart did not have a team.
MHS scores were Amanda Miller (394), Kalynn Chick (342), Randie Baker (264) and Kimiko Bullis (217).
“Ben Houston had the best day,” MHS coach Herb Halinski said. “He just got a new ball and bowled really well. I am proud of the way he stepped up. The rest of the team struggled, but never gave up. Amanda Miller was the high light of the girls team. She tried really hard and had a consistent day.”
