McPherson High’s boys’ near-loss to Dodge City on Friday cost the Bullpups their No. 1 ranking in Class 4A Division I today, according to the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association poll.

Basehor-Linwood has reassumed the top spot, with MHS dropping to second. Paola, Abilene and on-the-move Miege round out the Top 5.

Hays is No. 6, followed by Andale, Andover Central, Wamego and Eudora.

For the second straight week, the McPherson High girls have dropped, but this time two spots to No. 5. They were knocked off 45-39 to Dodge City on Friday.

Ahead of the Bullpups are Miege, Wellington, Kansas City Piper and Paola.

Labette County is No. 6, followed by Chanute, Abilene, Circle and Andover Central.

The Hesston boys are still No. 4 in Class 3A, trailing Osage City, Riverton and Sabetha, while the Swather girls are No. 9. Silver Lake is at the top.

Moundridge’s girls are No. 7 in Class 2A this week, with Central Plains still holding on to the top spot.
