Jessica Motes will be the answer to a McPherson College volleyball trivia question.

Motes, a graduate of Newton High School who later attended Pratt Community College, last week became the first signee of the Jessica Cleveland era at McPherson College.

Motes played at Newton for Jamie Dibbens, who was a star volleyball player at Moundridge during her playing days. The 5-8 Motes is an outside hitter.

She earned league honors throughout her career at Newton, which has been one of the top 5A programs for several years.

“Jessica is a versatile athlete with great ball control," Cleveland said. "She makes smart court decisions and big defensive plays. I missed her in recruiting the first around, but am fortunate to have another chance and to make her a Bulldog as my first signee at McPherson College."
