DERBY — One victory away from perfection.

McPherson’s seventh-grade girls made it 14 straight wins on Tuesday in the semifinals of the Pioneer League Tournament by doubling Salina Lakewood, 36-18.

Belle Alexander led a balanced Bullpup offense with seven points as eight MMS players marked in the book.

“We had a slow start, but once we settled down and took care of the ball, we were able to run our offense a little better,” MMS coach Jacque Gehrt said. “We will go back to work tomorrow (Wednesday) and prepare to play Derby North for the championship on Thursday.”

MMS plays Derby North at 5 p.m. North was a 39-28 winner over Newton in its semifinal game on Tuesday.
