LINDSBORG — The Smoky Valley basketball teams were the comeback kids on Tuesday.
Both Viking teams trailed at the half against Nickerson, but rallied for a sweep of the Panthers.
The Viking girls, down 20-19 at the half, gained control with a 12-8 third quarter and then closed it out for a 42-33 victory.
Katie Bellah and Kate Deterding scored 14 points apiece to lead the Vikings.
The Viking boys made a stirring comeback. They gave up 37 first-half points to trail by seven, but charged back for a 68-63 victory, outscoring the Panthers 24-17 in the fourth quarter.
Nick Reinert fired in 17 points to lead the Vikes, with Brett Heitschmidt adding 15 and Jarod Meier scored 13, including seven straight in the fourth quarter. Smoky Valley was red-hot from 3-point, knocking down seven in the game
