LITTLE RIVER — Jeff Fields didn’t want to let his little brother Greg down.

Due to a work conflict, Greg had to miss coaching Tuesday’s game for the Elyria Christian School girls and Jeff, who was the former Eagles head coach and now the assistant, took over.

Little River put up a fight in the third meeting between the teams this season, but the Eagles came away with a narrow 40-38 victory.

Jeff Fields said he was proud of the team for overcoming the upset bid. Rachel Adamyk was the difference with 20 points, including 8 of 8 at the foul line. Moriah Redenbaugh chipped in with 12, along with nine rebounds.

Melanie Renken scored 14 point in defeat.

The Little River boys gained a split with a 57-28 rout. Clay Zeller’s 23 points led the Redskins, while Damien Martinez added 14. Jeb Sauer and Levi Swenson also were in doubles with 10 apiece.

Tyler Thiessen’s 13 points led Elyria.
