HUTCHINSON — It was a clean sweep for McPherson High’s bowling teams during a triangular on Thursday with Buhler and Salina Central.
Clayton Ouellette had a monster day to lead the MHS boys, who totaled 2,427 compared to 2,208 for Buhler and 1,699 for Salina Central.
Ouellette had games of 208, 245 and 246 to just miss the magical 700 series by one pin with a 699.
Other MHS scores were Jeff Reed (577), KC Becker (565), Carl Frazier (546), Mathew Stiggins (479) and Talin Goebel (464).
The JVs wound up having a dual with Buhler, as Central did not bring a team. MHS outlasted the Crusaders 1,806-1,765, with Ben Houston leading the way with a 542.
Other MHS scores were Austin Stiggins (464), Mathew Gesaman (433), Devin Hartley (367), Sean Birzer (305) and Tyler Horner (285).
Bailey Holton had a 534 to lead the MHS girls to an 1,870 total, which surpassed Buhler (1,617) and Central (1,418).
Holton had a high of 193.
Other MHS scores were Ashley LaSalle (451), Alexis Kieffer (451), Anna Young (406), Brooke Miller (388) and Maysan Groote (326).
The JV girls had a 1,367, easily bettering Central (926) and Buhler (895).
Amanda Miller’s 428 led the way. Other scores were Kalynn Chick (373), Caitlyn Fortner (289), Randie Baker (277) and Kimiko Bullis (143).
“It was a good day for Clayton and Bailey,” MHS coach Herb Halinski said in summarizing the day. “They both threw the ball good and were rewarded. It was an up-and-down day for a few of the kids, but they all gave 100 percent.”
MHS competes in the league tournament a week from today at Wichita.
