Vikings split with Halstead

LINDSBORG — Nick Reinert made 12 of 13 free throws and finished with 27 points on Friday to lead Smoky Valley to a 49-42 victory over Halstead as the Vikings completed a 2-0 week to get to 7-10 on the season.

Smoky started fast with an 18-8 first quarter and still led 28-17 at the half. Reinert was able to put the game away at the line in the second half.

Jason Adams just missed double figures with nine.

The Viking girls lost another heart-breaker, 34-32. The Vikings had the lead 18-17 at the half and it was a close game all the way.

Kate Deterding led Smoky with 10 points, one more than Katie Bellah.
