MHS boys return to No. 1 spot

McPherson High’s boys returned to their No. 1 spot in the Class 4A Division I basketball poll announced on Monday.

MHS and Basehor-Linwood have been playing ping-pong with the top spot the last few weeks as the teams again swapped places.

Paola, hard-charging Miege and Andale round out the Top 5. Wamego, Hays, Abilene, Eudora and Andover Central complete the Top 10.

MHS’ girls are No. 5, trailing Miege, Welington, Kansas City Piper and Paola. Labette County heads the second five, followed by Chanute, Abilene, Andover Central and Kansas City Sumner.

Hesston’s boys are No. 4 in Class 3A, trailing Osage City, Riverton and Sabetha. The Swather girls are No. 7, with Silver Lake, Sterling, Sabetha, Nemaha Central, Garden Plain and Caney Valley ahead of them.

Moundridge’s girls dropped to No. 7 in Class 2A. Ahead of the Wildcats are Central Plains, Valley Falls, Olpe, Hill City, Meade and Sedan.
