LINDSBORG — Sterling’s basketball teams proved to be too much for Smoky Valley on Tuesday, sweeping the games between the schools.

Sterling outscored the Smoky girls 11-1 in the second quarter, propelling the Black Bears to a 57-29 victory.

The loss spoiled a nice 16-point game by Katie Bellah.

The Viking boys made a huge rally in the fourth quarter, but came up short in a 65-61 setback.

Smoky Valley roared back with 26 fourth-quarter points, but that couldn’t prevent the loss.

Nick Reinert was the lone Viking in double figures with 23 points.
