Central cagers split road games

OMAHA, Neb. — Central Christian College’s men didn’t have their “A” offensive game, but they sure brought it on the defensive end Tuesday night.

The Tigers improved to 17-9 by gutting out a 68-60 decision over Grace University. Michael Gholston scored 16 points, Alonzo Stafford had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds and Sam Clayborn scored 11.

The defense was especially strong in the first half as the Tigers limited the Royals to just 8 of 25 from the field and 21 points as CCC took a 12-point lead into the break.

The Tigers host York College on Saturday for Senior Night.

Grace (60) — Heck 4, Anderson 15, Stewart 15, Mayo 15, Santiel 5, Hanes 1, Shappell 5.

• GRACE WOMEN 68, CENTRAL 60 — The women’s score was the same as the men’s, but with a different winner.

Central led 29-27 at the half, but got outscored 20-7 in the third quarter.

Kelsey Grimaldo and Heather Crittenden scored 19 points apiece for the Lady Tigers, who have now lost eight in a row to fall to 8-20. They play Friday at nationally ranked Hillsdale, then come home on Saturday for Senior Day against York College, with game time 3 p.m.
