ELYRIA — It was a feel-good night for the Elyria Christian School basketball teams on Friday as they celebrated Senior Night in style.

The Elyria boys romped to 41 first-half points on their way to a 68-35 rout of Flint Hills Christian.

Aidan Fields led the way with 20 points, Tyler Thiessen scored 16 and Caleb Froese added 11. Ten Eagles in all scored as ECS put up 18 points in the first period and 23 more in the second.

“It was a nice night for the seniors at Elyria as we celebrated their Senior Night with a 33-point win,” ECS coach Ben Starburg said. “The three seniors are Jordan Unruh, Nathan Daniel and Marshall Williford. They brought us lots of energy to start the game as we pulled away early.  We also had a nice balanced scoring attack with 10 of our 15 players getting into the scoring column. We shared the ball very well.”

The Elyria girls had started things in blazing fashion, piling up a stunning 71-6 rout. The Eagles did not allow a point in the second and third quarters.

Rachel Adamyk made 13 of 16 shots and poured in 29 points to lead ECS. Moriah Redenbaugh and Christin Vetter added 12 and 11, respectively.

“We were glad to see Rachel Adamyk, Moriah Redenbaugh and Katherine Ropp perform well on Senior Night,” ECS coach Greg Fields said.
