PEABODY — It was a couple of easy wins for the Moundridge basketball teams on Friday against Peabody.
The MHS girls were a 66-39 winner behind 18 points by Ashley Holler, 11 by Bethany Stucky and 10 by Peri Lange. Holler scored 14 of hers in the second half as the Wildcats put up 35 points after the break. Peabody actually had kept the game close, 29-20, for the first half.
It was a stroll for the Wildcat boys, who led 37-9 at the half on their way to a 61-18 rout as they still haven’t lost since the Rupp Classic.
Noah Eichelberger fired in 20 points, including three 3s, and Anthony Otte scored 16. Otte also came up with seven steals, one more than Eichelberger.
“We turned up the defensive pressure and it paid dividends for us as we got into transition a lot because of steals and runouts,” MHS coach Vance Unrau said. “We have not finished in transition well, so that has been a big focus in drill work the last several weeks. We did better tonight, but not as good as I want. We closed out the game with our JV kids and I was happy and pleased for them to get rewarded for busting it in practice every day.”
