McPherson College’s softball team salvaged the second game of a doubleheader with Northwestern College of Iowa here Saturday, with the 8-2 second-game victory being its first of the year after six losses.

Mac handed the Red Raiders their first loss of the year. The Bulldogs appeared to be in trouble, down 2-1, but scored the game’s final seven runs.

It was a monster game for Amanda Darrow, who had three hits and five RBIs. Emily Davis and Azaria Romero, a pair of McPherson High products, added two hits apiece. Sydney Moreno drove in two runs.

Katie Usdansky was the winning pitcher, with Sydney Lang tossing two perfect innings of relief.

The Red Raiders had won the first game, 6-1. The Bulldogs were limited to four hits, two by Davis. Lang took the loss.

Mac is right back in action today hosting Midland.
