McPherson High’s boys are the No. 1 ranked team in Class 4A Division I as the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association released its final poll of the season.
The Bullpups are followed by Basehor-Linwood, Paola, Bishop Miege and Wamego. Hays heads the second five, followed by Abilene, Eudora, Andover Central and Buhler.
Ironically, MHS, Hays and Buhler are in the same sub-state, as are Basehor-Linwood and Miege. Wamego and Abilene are paired as well, which means several of the teams in the final Top 10 won’t be advancing to state.
The MHS girls are No. 5 in the final poll, trailing Miege, Wellington, Piper and Paola. Behind the Bullpups are Labette County, Chanute, Abilene, Andover Central and Sumner.
Hesston’s boys moved up to No. 3 in Class 3A this week, trailing Osage City and Sabetha. The Hesston girls are No. 7, with Silver Lake and Sterling sitting at 1-2.
The Moundridge girls are No. 7 in the final Class 2A poll, with Central Plains and Valley Falls occupying the first two spots.
