McPherson College’s Ashton Bruner was named KCAC Newcomer of the Year and she also earned All-Defensive first-team honors as the All-KCAC teams were announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Bruner also made the All-KCAC second team.
McPherson College’s Bailey Brown was surprisingly relegated to the third team. Bulldogs Kristina Battle and Amanda Allen were named to the All-Freshman Team.
Shann Sellers of Friends was named Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. Tabor’s Morgan Ediger, the reigning Miss Kansas Basketball, was named Freshman of the Year.
Sellers was joined on the first team by Tena Loewen of Tabor, Ashley Romig of Ottawa, Jordyn Miller of Southwestern and Hailey Davis of Sterling.
Bruner headlined the second team and was joined by Tabor’s Jurnee Reid, Oklahoma Wesleyan’s Kayla Morgan, Kansas Wesleyan’s Jordyn Alexander and Southwestern’s Jana Reichenberger.
Brown was the pacesetter of the third team, joined by Kaleigh Troxell of Tabor, Imani Dixon of Saint Mary, Susan Agesan of Oklahoma Wesleyan and Kayla Justice of Friends.
Bethany’s Joleen Chanco was named honorable mention. Other selections were Madi Stewart of Ottawa, Mallory Zuercher of Tabor, Jenna Farris and Karlie Steinle of Kansas Wesleyan, Lauren Ulrich of Bethel, Ericka Torres of Friends, Shelbie Kirby of Oklahoma Wesleyan, Jordin Greer of Sterling and Kelsie Switzer of Saint Mary.
Bruner and Sellers were joined by Tabor’s Loewen, Bethany’s Chanco and Sterling’s Davis on the All-Defensive Team.
Other All-Freshmen along with Tabor’s Ediger, and Mac’s Allen and Battle, were Taylor Deniston of Tabor and Andrea McClary of Saint Mary.
