HESSTON — Hesston’s boys recorded one of their most impressive wins of the year on Tuesday, wrapping up regular-season play with a 57-44 victory over Pratt in a battle of Central Kansas League powers.

The Swathers outscored Pratt 18-7 in the first quarter and 16-9 in the third to key the win. Scott Duersken’s 20 points and 15 more by Zach Esau fueled the win.

The Hesston girls were pushed in the second half, but prevailed 46-43 in a tense contest.

A 20-point second quarter by the Swathers was the difference as they built up a good lead that they lived off of the rest of the way. As has been the case in recent games, there was no stopping Kailey Jo Ince (18 points) and Cami Richardson (16).
