Central Christian College’s baseball team has hit a rough patch in the road.

The Tigers, after opening the season with an 11-3 record, fell to 11-8 on Saturday after losing two more games to Morningside of Iowa, which swept the four-game weekend series at Tiger Stadium.

After two close games on Friday, Morningside flexed its muscles in Saturday’s opener, 20-3. The once-robust Tiger bats were relatively silent with five hits, the only extra-base knock a double by Stephen Boedeker.

The series’ closeness of Friday returned in Game 2 as Morningside pushed across a run in the seventh for a 5-4 victory, spoiling a nice game by CCC pitcher Keaton Snyder. Central’s bats, though, struggled, though Boedeker added two more hits.

Central will try to right the ship Friday and Saturday when Clarke University comes to town for four games.
