Both KCAC Postseason Tournament men’s basketball games went overtime on Saturday, but it’s still going to be No. 1 against No. 2 for the championship Monday night.
Tabor, which went through the conference undefeated at 20-0, rallied from a four-point halftime deficit for an 88-79 victory over Friends. Southwestern also won its game in extra basketball, 89-88 over Saint Mary.
Tabor and Southwestern are both assured of making the national tournament, which takes away a little of the importance of the title game.
The championship game is at 8 p.m. Monday at Park City’s Hartman Arena.
There was a big upset on Saturday on the women’s side. Ottawa, the No. 5 seed, stunned No. 2 Friends 71-63 on the Falcons’ home court to earn a 6 p.m. date Monday at Hartman against KCAC champ Tabor, which routed Southwestern, 67-45.
Ottawa advances to the national tournament with a victory. Should Tabor win, Friends would get the second berth having finished second in the regular season.
