A Hillsboro man was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison Monday after being convicted on firearms charges from October of 2013.

U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom says David Nicholas, Jr., 45, was convicted on three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm following a felony conviction. During his trial, prosecutors revealed evidence that showed Nicholas was a parolee in October 2013 when he was arrested in Marion County by the U.S. Marshals Service.

At the time of his arrest, Nicholas possessed a .22-caliber handgun and a .30-06 caliber rifle and ammunition.
