Big honor for Hesston grad Richardson

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Hesston High School graduate Caylee Richardson, who led the Swathers to back-to-back Class 3A state championships in her final two seasons, was named on Monday as the MIAA Freshman of the Year.

Richardson plays for Southwest Baptist University. She also was picked to the All-MIAA honorable mention team.

Richardson led SBU in scoring (13.1), rebounding (7.9), field goal percentage (59.4) and free throw percentage (82.1). 

She was the MIAA leader in field goal percentage, ranked sixth in rebounding, seventh in free throw percentage and 14th in scoring.

Richardson played for her father, McPherson College graduate Matt Richardson, at Hesston.
