McPherson County Commissioners accepted an intent to retire letter from Emergency Management/911 Communications director Darren Frazier during their meeting Monday morning.

Frazier, who has worked for the citizens of McPherson and McPherson County in some capacity for the last 32 years, announced his intent to retire as of July 1 in the letter submitted to the commission on Monday.

The commission also appointed Julie McClure as the director of Emergency Management and 911 Communications after accepting Frazier's retirement letter. She will begin working with Frazier to transition the directorship starting on May 15.

Frazier stated in the letter that he feels the department is solid, thanks to the Next Gen 911 and radio upgrades in progress and that he has confidence in the current command staff.
