HALSTEAD — The cupcakes are over the Hesston boys.

The Swathers had their second straight easy game in the Halstead Class 3A sub-state on Thursday, pounding Eureka 60-29.

That earns them a 7:30 p.m. date Saturday with Southeast of Saline, which rolled past Halstead 57-40 behind 25 points by Easton Montgomery. The Swathers are 20-2, the Trojans are 19-3.

Hesston buried Eureka in the first half and had running clock in the fourth quarter. Four Swathers hit for double figures, led by Scott Duerksen with 17 points. Also in twins were Zach Vogt (13), Jon Weber (12) and Zach Esau (11).
